North of Berlin, in the district of Reinickendorf, interior content creator and owner of the interior brand Haus of Hart, Sarah Hartmann transformed a classic 70-square-meter apartment into a lively, colourful space. Full of curated design pieces, DYI elements, and lots of 70s aesthetic, the typical Berlin Altbau feels anything like it.

“My style is a wild mix of the vibe of the 70s, space age design, Wes Anderson films or, as my brother once said, like Disney Land for adults. I pay particular attention to vibrant colour combinations with creative quirks paired with clever design, which puts you in a good mood.”

Lighting plays an important role in her style, as it goes beyond illumination itself. Each lamp is carefully curated to emphasise a specific mood, style, colour combination – or serve a specific function.
“I am a big fan of portable lights because I redecorate almost every day, so I can easily move them from A to B and implement new decorating ideas without getting tangled up in cables. This means I am no longer limited in my styling ideas and can get light wherever I feel it is needed.”
To her, Louis Poulsen is the ultimate representation of timeless design objects.
“Ever since I was a teenager with a keen interest in design, it has been my absolute dream to own a Louis Poulsen one day. And now that I have collected a whole family of them, it really is a dream come true.”

Above her dining table a white PH Snowball Pendant hangs as an absolute highlight piece, catching the eye instantly.
“I love how the futuristic design of the Snowball above my bright red dining table contrasts with the chaotic colourful mess that often prevails in my living room. The shiny silver details in the design are reflected everywhere in the room.”

“But the Panthella is still my absolute favourite, which is why there are more of them in my home than I can count.
The shape of this design classic instantly puts me in a good mood. It fits into any environment without being too overpowering, yet still makes a clear design statement.”
