About the PH 3/3 Aged Brass Opal Pendant

Poul Henningsen designed hundreds of lamps based on the three-shade system he developed in 1926 to enable unequalled lighting quality for all purposes. Many of his lamp designs include a number that refers to the shade sizes of each lamp.

The PH 3/3 is described as a “whole” sized pendant, characterised by its appealing compact semblance with a top shade of approximately 30 centimetres, corresponding to the middle and lower shade in the proportions 3:2:1. PH’s “whole” sized lamps are designed to be particularly glare-free, and they are therefore ideally placed high in a room where they integrate high-quality lighting with a warm ambience.

The PH 3/3 Aged Brass Opal Pendant will elevate any room, including small spaces and areas with high ceilings, whether it be a hallway, kitchen, bedroom or living room.

Poul Henningsen designed the PH 3/3 pendant to be placed high up in a space. It emits comfortable, diffused and glare-free light, characteristic of PH's reflective three-shade system. The middle and lower shades are crafted from three-layered, mouth-blown opal white glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matte on the inner side, producing a soft and uniform light distribution. The brass top shade has a white-painted inner side, providing a delicate, mainly downward-directed light.

Poul Henningsen

Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen by the famous Danish actress Agnes Henningsen. He never graduated as an architect, but studied at The Technical School at Frederiksberg, Denmark from 1911-14, and then at Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914-17.
